CATRIONA SHEARER
Catriona Shearer is best known for waking up the nation – as the face of BBC Scotland’s Breakfast TV bulletins. She also anchors the flagship news programme Reporting Scotland on a regular basis.
Away from the news desk, Catriona has helped ring in the New Year on BBC 1 on the Hogmanay Programme and risked her life, well - her hairdo at least, presenting live from the Isle of May bird sanctuary for BBC1’s Midsummer Live.
Catriona has presented and featured in several BBC documentaries including Scots’ language series Bletherin’ Scots. As a keen music fan, she’s covered T in the Park live for television, and has hosted the New Music Zone for BBC Radio Scotland.
She fulfilled an ambition by making her comedy debut on the BBC’s Only An Excuse programme at New Year. Continuing the football theme she’s sometimes heard co-presenting the BBC’s irreverent football show Off the Ball.
Her career began in London, where Catriona worked as a journalist on BBC Radio Five Live Breakfast. She developed her journalistic skills, but more importantly, her ability to get up early!
Before joining the team in Glasgow, Catriona worked in Cardiff for BBC Radio Wales and co-presented the Saturday afternoon Sports programme Sportstime.
Away from broadcasting Catriona is a popular and highly professional awards and conference host with an ease of presentation to ensure a sharp, smooth corporate occasion.
