Sally Magnusson is an award-winning journalist and broadcaster who has presented a wide range of programmes for the BBC from current affairs and politics to news and religion. She started her career on The Scotsman and Sunday Standard and then presented Breakfast News in London for several years. She currently anchors the daily news programme Reporting Scotland and is the author of several books.
She is the founder and chair of Playlist for Life (www.playlistforlife.org.uk), a charity which encourages access to personalised music on iPods for people with dementia to help them reconnect with their memories and their loved ones. Her bestselling memoir about her mother, Where Memories Go: Why Dementia Changes Everything, has been credited with improving knowledge and understanding of this widespread brain condition.
On radio she presents the popular Radio 4 genealogy series Tracing Your Roots and a Sunday morning magazine show on Radio Scotland. She has written a number of books, including Family Life, Dreaming of Iceland and Life of Pee: The Story of How Urine Got Everywhere – which is also the theme of much of her entertaining public speaking. She is in demand as a versatile conference chair and awards ceremony host.
